Installation of Fixed Rangehood

Have an existing slide out rangehood which needs to be removed and replaced with a new fixed rangehood.
The existing rangehood has power connected but is not plumbed into the ceiling. I would like the new fixed rangehood to be vented into the roof space or outside (whichever you recommend).
Have not purchased new rangehood yet, and am open to your suggestion as to best brand. Can purchase unit as soon as you advise what type.
