My GHD hair straightener keeps losing power and or not turning on.

I accidentally squashed the cord under my work bag whilst it was plugged in the other day and I think I've damaged the wiring as it now won't turn on or if it does, only stays on for a few seconds. It's a special edition and I'm not willing to replace it, plus I don't have the funds for a whole new one right now- I just want to get it fixed please!!!
