One of the biggest fears when doing a renovation or an update on your home is the worry you’ll pick a style that will appear dated in 12 months’ time. Well, we’re here to help, with our top 5 Interior Design Styles that will never go out of fashion.
Modern
Modern interiors are clean, simple and functional, usually with a darker monochromatic colour palette. Hints of colour are used sparingly and furniture has clean sharp lines.
Bohemian
For the more eclectic homeowners, the ‘Bohemian’ style covers anything and everything that’s personal to the owner; it can come from textures, colours, form and shapes. Layering and playing with colours is an important part of this style.
Scandinavian
Scandinavian style is one my personal favourite with its clean white muted interiors. This style heavily incorporates natural elements – like indoor plants, sustainable furniture, fur and wooden flooring. A neutral colour scheme and a minimalistic layout make this style an easy one to adopt.
Classic
A classic home can be associated with the likes of Audrey Hepburn; a woman who will never go out of style. Classic interior design is luxurious with lightwood and soothing earth-tone colours. Extra-fluffy couches, cream coloured curtains, and rich accessories like candelabras, glass coffee tables and gold picture frames are just some features in a classically designed house.
Industrial
A style that became popular in the early 2000’s and doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon is the industrial look This style takes its clues from old New York factories and industrial spaces that in recent years have been converted to lofts and other living spaces. Components of industrial style include weathered wood, building systems, exposed brick and pipes, industrial lighting fixtures and concrete.
Whatever your favourite, you can’t go wrong with one of these styles.
