Guide to saving water around your home.
Tip 1.
Repair all dripping taps. This is also a very easy way to save on your water bill, whilst at the same time doing your bit for the environment.
Tip 2.
To minimise the distance of which the hot water has to flow install your water heater close to the bathroom and kitchen.
Tip 3.
Purchase and install a rainwater tank.
Tip 4.
Wash clothes in the laundry only when the load is full and try washing with cold water rather than hot water whenever possible.
Tip 5.
Same as tip 4 only use the dishwasher when the load is full.
Tip 6.
In your basin spout install a flow restrictor disc.
Tip 7.
Did you know that a running hot tap uses up to 16L of water per minute. For this reason cut back on water when doing things such as brushing your teeth. When brushing your teeth turn the water off.
Tip 8.
Use grey water system, this is a system where the waste water from showers, baths, kitchen, bathroom, washing machine and laundry sinks are purified and used to water the garden.
