Christmas decorations can be fun and festive without breaking the bank. Read on for 10 simple tricks to spice up your house this Christmas.
Looking for a great center piece for the dining table? Or maybe the mantle piece could do with a bit of Christmas cheer. All you need to do is keep reading for some great christmas decorating ideas.
1) Pick a simple colour scheme and let it run as a theme throughout your decorations
2) Get spray painting! Bottles (wine, juice and beer) and even jars can all be made festive with a bit of spray paint.
3) Find some branches from the garden and pop them in a vase for an instantpiece of art. Decorate with Christmas baubles for that extra touch. Still got some spray paint left? Spray them silver, white or gold for a bit of extra shine.
4) Use last year's christmas cards to make sweet decorations - hang them up, cut them up and make decorations out of them or hang them from ribbons throughout your house
5) Tie up your couch pillows with christmas ribbons to make them look like presents
6) Fill glass vases (or just plain clear glasses) with Christmas baubles, flowers, plants or marbles
7) Fill glass jars with coloured water (a few drops of food colouring will do the trick) and pop a floating candle on top for a bit of colourful light
8) Want a real Christmas Wreath? Then get scrounging in the garden. Almost any branches will do (make yours an especially Aussie Christmas and use wattle, eucalypt or gum leaves). Simply bend them into a circle and use a few wires, fishing line or ribbon to hold it together. Hang it on the door or lay it flat on the table; add extra Christmas decorations - it's your decision! (The below wreath was made using succulents - see, you can use anything!)
9) Buy a basic, plain coloured table cloth, decorate it with simple snowflakes using a glitter pen (silver on white looks beautiful) and there you have it, your own beautiful Christmas themed table cloth. (Find instructions here)
10) Fairy lights aren't just for outside the house. String them up inside, lay them on windowsills, clump them together or capture them in frosted glass jars for a glittery light effect.
