Thinking about expanding your business and offering more services? Service Central recommends you have a look at our data first.
We all know the principles of supply and demand. When there is high supply and low demand, competition is high. When there is high demand and low supply, competition is low.
Service businesses can compete on many levels - quality, service, price, speed, availability... the list goes on. But if you're considering expansion, you should at least check out the competition in the type of trade that you're considering taking on.
While we've shown you our 'Hot Categories' in each area for the past few months (below), we recognise that there's also value in drilling down into regions and sub-categories, so that you can evaluate the competition more specifically. If you want to get more specifics, feel free to chat to your Account Manager and discuss your potential plans. They'll be able to show you what kind of jobs have been available in the past, as well as give you an indication of how hot the competition is.
Other categories: Builders, Carpenters, Garage door specialists, refinishers.
One of the trends we track is 'odd' jobs. Over the years one of the categories featured on the 'hot category' list is always Treadmill Repairs. Although you'd imagine that most people would go straight to the manufacturer for service, so many people come to Service Central looking for Treadmill repairers. It's a similar landscape for GHD hair straightener repair. Electricians: This is a hot expansion area!
Service Central started in Victoria and quickly expanded into NSW and QLD, but the other states are catching up fast. Being one of the first registered businesses in other states can be beneficial not only from a competition perspective but also to get your Star Rating up before anyone else's. With our new website design you'll get to the top of the pile more quickly if you get in first.
Remember - this information doesn't just help your business. If you've got a friend or colleague that's in the business and hasn't investigated Service Central as a place to get new customers yet, then pass this information on. You can also give your Account Manager their details and can earn free lead fees for successful referrals.
