A guide to growing your own vegetables at home.
You will need:
Step1.
Location. It is vital to choose the right location for your vegetables. Keep in mind that the position of your vegetables must be sheltered from the wind and hail yet exposed to a lot of sunlight. This position should not be any closer than 1 to 3 metre from large trees as their roots will interfere with the growth of the plants.
Step2.
Soil checkBefore you do anything else you must check that the soil is well-drained. If you find that the soil is clay, stony or too dry then you must use raised beds for your vegetables.
Step3.
Compost/fertilisingNow that you have the perfect drainage basin you can prepare the soil. Remove all weeds, any rocks and break up clods. Dig the soil at about 25cm in depth and when the texture of the soil is fairly fine you can proceed to step 5.
Step4.
If the soil does not contain enough humus measure 5-10 cm of organic matter such as straw, compost or used teabags and roughly cover the surface of the vegetable garden.
Step5.
Pour over the garden animal manure or apply fertiliser whilst digging into the soil spade depth.
Step6.
Choosing your seeds will vary depending on the season that you are planting your vegetables.

Natural pesticides
If you find that your vegetable garden is being intruded by snails and slugs don’t fret. Although you can buy pesticides you can also make your own natural and organic pesticide to get rid of pests such as the snails and slugs. There are a few recipes as follows.
1 clove garlic + 1 small hot pepper + 1 quarter cup of water blend in a blender and pour into a spray bottle and finally spray over the plants.
Half a large onion + 2 chillies + 1 clove of garleic mix these in a blender and do the same as the previous recipe.
