Increased Value: Minimum price bracket increased to $250

To increase fairness across the board and value for our registered providers Service Central has increased the minimum price bracket from $0-$149 to $0-$249. Read on to see how this helps your business.

We’ve listen to our providers and made the change. After considerable feedback from our registered service providers Service Central has made the decision to increase its minimum price bracket for the first time in four and a half years. This is a major decision that has considerable benefits for a large number of the businesses registered with us. Particularly, those businesses that provide services to householders such as carpet cleaners, plumbers, electricians, handymen and the like. Overall there were three key benefits that this change brings.

Firstly, the biggest benefit of all is that effectively immediately the minimum lead fee charge ($8.50 for jobs board members and $7.50 for premium members) brings you an extra $100 in job value at no extra cost. Whereas in the past you could only access jobs under the value of $149 for that price, you can now accept jobs up to the value of $249.

This is much fairer, as no longer are you paying $15 (or $16.50 for jobs board members) for jobs under the value of $250. That means that typical jobs that normally just tip over the $150 mark (like installing powerpoints in a home) now fit within the minimum price range.

Secondly, the increase in the minimum price bracket to $249 helps increase the price expectations of consumers. Rather than consumers believing that they might be able to get the service for under $149, their expectations are now raised to up to $249. This hopefully means less discussions about pricing with the consumers, and potentially the ability to charge a true and fair price for these small jobs.

Thirdly, we are expecting that this change should help remove the hesitation about accepting jobs. With more and more jobs being listed in the $0-249 price range that means that there are going to be more jobs available for the $7.50 (or $8.50 for jobs board members) lead fee. It also means that you’re not going to be stuck with a $15 lead fee for a $ 160 job. This is much fairer overall.

We hope that you like the price bracket change that we’ve made. We’d love to be flooded with emails from you thanking us for this great change.
