NSW feed-in tariff slashed to 20c

On 28 October 2010, the NSW Government announced changes to the Solar Bonus Scheme.

What are the changes?

  • Change 1: Instead of paying 60c per kilowatt hour of power produced, the rate has dropped to 1 third at 20c per kilowatt hour.
  • Change 2: There is now a cap of 300 megawatts.

Previously, NSW had been applauded for the most progressive feed-in tariff scheme.

As quoted from the NSW Government website, the reasons for the change are stated as "This change reflects the substantial fall in PV system purchase costs over the past twelve months and also takes account of the generous support provided through the Commonwealth's Renewable Energy Target scheme."
