When you’re hiring a plasterer the hourly rate they quote will cover their labour and all materials. Plastering is a highly skilled trade, and it’s worth paying someone good to get the best finish possible. It’s always worthwhile getting recommendations for a plasterer or asking to see examples of their work.
Generally plasterers don’t charge for a call out or to do a quote. Often a plasterer can also quote over the phone.
Plasterers usually quote on a per squared metre basis rather than on an hourly basis, although they will also be willing to quote for a room or for an entire house. A plasterer’s rate will vary depending on the type of job as well, so you’ll need to take into consideration whether it’s a contemporary or Victorian house and the level of detail work that needs doing.
There’s a rough guide of what you can expect to pay for different jobs below.
There may be some extra costs if the job is particularly difficult. So if there are a lot of details that need plastering in the room, like vaulted ceilings or bay windows the price may go up slightly, but these should be covered at the quote stage.
Plasterers will normally only work with plaster that they supply and the cost of all materials should be covered in their quote.

Getting a quote for your plastering is super easy.
Simply head to /post-your-job/ and post your job request. Then up to 3 qualified plasterers will be in touch with their quotes for your job.
20-37 a sqaure metre i wish its more like 10-16 and most large building companies try to screw you down from 10 . You guys really need to research better

more like $15-$18 float and set
glens right,do your homework
Hi Glen and Mark , I know where you are coming from and your rates are cool for a few rooms to a whole house but I dont think that a client wanting 9m2 of kitchen drywall replaced after they have removed the mouldy stuff would get the job done for 10 - 16 bucks a square meter or even the same area in a hallway or wall in a room.

I find their estimates to be around par for the medium to small jobs and you may be well right about larger companies subbing out work
cheers Eden

33/3rd% labour
33. /3rd% materials
33/3rd % profit
Too many going into business that don,t think about profit
Hang $2.50 m2 + set $2.50 plasterboard 10 mm re $4.60 =$9.60+ Profit 33%=$3.18 total sell price $12.78 m2 plus delivery plus . If you charge any less you will not be able to grow .the bigger you get you can drop your profit margin down , all to do with turnover.
how much would it be for a single plaster whole in the wall, from falling through it, the size is about 45cm lower of my back to under my shoulder blade.

Hi I've ran my own Buissnes for ten years and the price for plastering has not changed with inflation or moved in ten years builders and larger companys have this to blame not to mention Asian plasterers just jumping into our trade and working for peanuts giving our trade a bad name and watching videos on how to plaster. My rates are firm 13.50 to 18.00 any less your better off on the dole. Already Plastered Pty Ltd

If your not doing 1/3 materials , 1/3 labour & 1/3 profit you might as well be on wages for someone else & not have to worry about the paper work & ruNning around . SmaLl jobs are great if your a competent plasterer & know how to use casso to speed up the drying time , & hourly rate work $50 per hour/ man is stress free
Someone give me a quote on repairing wall in my living room and dining room its plaster on there now & they told me it would look good to do a knock down trim & all 850 for both rooms 15×27 &15×14 does that sound about right...

Its not so much about the price as it is about the quality of the work and quality of the person performing the work.
If the provider has given you a proper written quotation, fully explaining what work is involved and exactly what is going to be done in the price (often called a scope of works), including what is not included in the price (called exclusions) such as electrical or plumbing work and you have checked that they are qualified and properly insured (as per Service Central Verified provider), then the price is about your affordability. The only other thing to do is to check that it is within the market range, by getting a 'check price' or looking up pricing ranges on sites like archicentre.
Good luck with your project
Bruce
I would like a price or price idea, to hang a plasterboard ceiling in my garage. There is currently timbet joists though the previous owner, who had the garage built, didn't evet complete the plastering of the ceiling. Basic small contemporary cornice would be required also.. The garage is approx 4mtrs wide x 14mtrs long (give or take a little).. I am located in blackburn south, melbourne..

My current plaster rates are at $13.50 to $14.00 m2 if i go any higher I do not receive a phone call back. My rates do go up depending on location, access, square set etc...

My hourly rate is $40 per man, a minimum of 4 hours will be charged. There are a lot of people on service central that think they can get small patch up jobs done for less than $160.00 which is really frustrating after considering travel, materials, etc $160,00 is very cheap when you take these cost out of your profit.
Kind Regards Sulli's Plastering
Have plasterer charging themselves at $350/day - labour only to drywall and stop out 50m2 extension ready to paint - seems to think they can charge daily rate regardless of with it is a 4 or 8 hr rate - bit excessive?? Think the time will come soon that imigrants will be doing all our work in the future as I'm soon to start on a new house - can see things ending up like Ireland!!

oj do you work for free it cost that much for a tradesman i charge more than that if the works good and done promptly no mucking around why winge ? the imigrants are killing for the working man doing it to cheap and not to standard want shite work get them to do it see how much it cost then for a real plasterer to come fix it

With due respect to people who think that a Trades person after doing a full apprenticeship to get this Trade Certificate should work for peanuts, I beg to differ as the wife of a Plasterer, here is my take. A Master Craftsman or experienced Gyprock/Plasterer currently charges anything from $40-$55 per hour. He prices his job taking into consideration access to the job/building, whether it is up a few flights of stairs, whether it needs scaffolding, parking availability, whether trade waste bins are required, removal and tip fee costs, materials and delivery of material costs. Besides investing in special tools required for the profession. Is one man able to do the job on his own, or does he need the assistance of an Assistant? Running their own team or solo, a skilled Contractors will be licenced and have full insurances upto date with public liability, workplace all this accounts for quoting accurately. Each man to his own trade is a wise saying. It looks easy and that anyone could go into the Hardware shop and purchase a few sheets but, what next? People asking for quotes don't realise Tradies other hidden costs like Company taxes, licensing fees, superannuation etc. A good Tradie will give you a competitive price for a clean finished job that will not rot and fall down in a hurry. Each tool of trade can be quite expensive and necessary to get a professional finish. Often skilled Tradies are called out to redo jobs that have been done by "cheapest" quotes or immigrant workman who have left a shoddy mess for the agast owner to fix up. There is too much pressure on Tradies to bring their prices down but why? What area of their job do you want them to leave out? No one in business can afford to work for nothing. Costing should be respected for being competitive and profitable for the Aussie Tradie to survive in the Australian workplace.
