I've written a popular post about swimming pools in the past - there's just something about beautiful swimming pools that appeals to our need for relaxation and indulgence.
So maybe it's the cool weather of late, but when I saw this incredible Mirage House with an infinity pool for a roof I turned a little green (with envy):
Being on a Greek Island is no longer enough. Now you need to lounge in your own infinity pool. On your freaking roof. (Yes, jealousy is a strong emotion).
There's, like, a whole house under there.
Pretty sensational, right?
Impressive. What's more impressive is how far computer rendering has come! It had me fooled for a while there - I almost had my flights booked! Did it fool you too?
Still, this is scheduled to begin construction later this year. So rooftop infinity pools are coming to a Greek Island near you soon.
Given how worked up I got over this incredilicious infinity pool, I thought it would be a good idea to check out what unparalleled luxury other pool owners are enjoying. Because I hate myself.
It's time to lounge around some of the world's best pools again - virtually, at least!
Running with the idea of pools as roofs, this stylish home lets you keep an eye on your teenage daughter and her boyfriend's swim time from the comfort of your own patio. Word is, after a particularly awkward moment when the Jones family from next door dropped over unexpectedly, this house has a 'clothes on in the pool' policy.
Could this be Mario and Luigi's pool? What looks like a giant concrete gutter overhangs a garden with a carefully placed pane of glass to make it look as if the water is suspended in the dramatic pool. There's obviously money in plumbing...
Hong Kong is full of amazing sites and spectacular views. It doesn't get much better than enjoying the bustling city's skyline from the comfort of your own infinity pool though, does it?
The ocean is all salty and wavy. Even if it's close, avoid the potential for face-planting and hang out in your own cabana by the pool. Trust me, the ocean is best enjoyed from afar.
Same goes for this one. Pull up a sun lounge and settle in for the day...
You're probably wondering, 'who are these people, and how can I become close personal friends with them before next summer?'
Well, join the queue, buddy!
Instead, why don't you get one of Service Central'spool installers to give you an early Christmas Present (Hint: Mid Winter is an economical time to organise your pool - beat the summer rush, contact a pool installer today)
Brodie Norris runs Lunchbox Architect, which features one innovative architect designed home each weekday. We featured this house with a pretty impressive pool, amiright?
