Scaffolding in Australia

We don't usually think about it much, but scaffolding supply is an essential trade that supports the construction industry significantly. On a daily basis, so many jobs - big or small - need scaffolding to be used to make them safer, quicker and easier.

Scaffolding is used in two ways

  • Firstly, scaffolding supports you, your construction workers, and their tools and materials. Scaffolding helps you spend longer times in an elevated position - perhaps while working on a roof or high wall - more safely and comfortably. If you spend any significant time on a ladder you'll know that it gets really tiring not being able to move around freely, and it's also tricky to keep your tools and materials on hand. Scaffolding gives you a platform to move around on so that your mobility isn't impaired at all.
  • Secondly, scaffolding supports concrete formwork while it sets.

When do you need scaffolding?

Your qualified builder will know when the standards set by the Australian government dictate that scaffolding is necessary. If you're doing a job via DIY, usually it's a question of safety and speed. You'll be safer with scaffolding and often manage to complete the job in half the time. Because renting scaffolding is easy and cost-effective, you should usually consider it rather than using an uncomfortable ladder - especially if the jobs going to take any significant time.
