Adding a pool or spa to your home can not only make your house more comfortable during the summer months, it can seriously increase the desirability and resale price of your property. But what kind of costs are you looking at to install a pool?
Generally speaking pool installers don’t charge a call out fee, or to do a quote.
The price of having a pool installed ranges between an hourly rate of $35 ph to $90 ph with an average of around $51, but most Pool Installers will be happy to quote for a whole job rather than on an hourly basis. The average cost per job costs around $6,500 and this varies significantly depending on what kind of pool you want and what kind of technology you'd prefer to use.
Above ground pools are generally cheaper but less common, and in ground pools are usually more than double the cost. Vinyl is the cheapest material, fiberglass is medium and concrete or gunite will be the most expensive.
The costs above will not include things like landscaping round your pool or laying decking. When you get a quote done make sure you know exactly what it will and won’t cover.
It’s up to you if you want to source your pool or spa separately, although it’s often a good idea to discuss this with your Pool Installer as they may be able to help you with a trade discount.
In addition to pumps, ladders, and filters, you will also need cleaning tools and brushes, vacuum assemblies, covers. Thermometers and even solar heaters might be ideal. These costs start at roughly $400, and can easily reach well into the thousands.
Chemicals for maintenance are also a consideration - between the chlorine, pH testing strips, and other materials, you can spend upward of $80 a month.
