Simple and elegant, plain glass has a certain luxurious connotation to it. Of course, it requires a bit of maintenance to ensure you’re not plagued with water residue - depending on the quality of your water supply, it may be difficult to ever get completely clear panes. But having plain glass will allow you to enjoy the view of the shower or bath’s interior and, particularly, the tile design. It will also allow light to fill the space more evenly, creating a more open atmosphere. Just be prepared to be well-acquainted with your squeegee.
Frosted glass is easier to clean and doesn’t leave you cursing water spots. It lacks a little of the architectural elegance of the former but provides a lot more privacy, which might be especially important in a family bathroom or an open-plan living situation. A range of textures, densities and patterns are available, so you’re sure to find something to suit your taste and your bathroom - in fact, outside of manufactured materials, you also have the choice of sanding, etching and films to achieve the desired look at the desired budget. The major concern is a lack of light but this can be averted with the right room layout.
