Tips for Lawn Mowing Safety

Mowing the lawn can be dangerous. Please consider the following safety tips for lawn mowing:

  1. Ensure that pets and children are away from the area being mowed whilst lawn mowing is being undertaken.
  2. Remove all sticks, stones and debris from the area that you will be mowing before you start mowing the lawn.
  3. Wear clothing appropriate for lawn mowing. Shorts and thongs with a terry towling hat might look good at the beach, but its just asking for trouble when lawn mowing. Wear sturdy shoes with good grip. Also, don't forget goggles or sunglasses to protect your eyes whilst mowing.
  4. Understand how to use your lawn mower. Read its instruction manual, and make sure you know how to stop your lawn mower in a hurry if there is an emergency.
  5. Do not mow the lawn if its wet as you're more likely to slip over. Also, avoid lawn mowing when there is lightening.
  6. Do not allow children to operate a ride on lawn mower. It is not a toy.
