Tools to apply paint with

It seems logical, but paint can be applied with various tools or applicators and they're all good for different parts of your painting job.

Paint brushes - either synthetic or natural hair gathered together into a brush. Big brushes are for big areas, small brushes are for smaller, finer work.

Paint rollers - can also be made of synthetic or natural fibres, and are basically material wrapped around a round tube. They're great for large surfaces, poor for small areas, and better for textured walls than paint brushes because the application process gets into the grooves more easily. Rollers use a little more paint.

Pads or sponges - Good for hard to reach places and great for other paint effects.

Spray guns - perfect for exterior painting, especially fences and walls. Very time efficient but can be a little messy unless you know what you're doing.

Rags - rolled up rags are used to apply paint in a textured manner for a different paint effects.
