Solar hot water heaters can reduce your household carbon emissions by more than 20%, besides cutting your energy bills drastically. Choosing a style of solar hot water heater can be quite tricky, and it's a great idea to get a solar professional to work through your options. However, here's an explanation about remote thermosyphon systems.
Similarly to the close-coupled thermosyphon system, the water heated in the collectors gets pushed into the tank which in turn pushes the cold water into the collectors to get heated. But, the storage tank is in the roof space inside, not on the roof outside. Hot water is supplied by constant, not mains pressure. For this type of system to work, the tank must be at least 300 mm above the collectors.
