Virtual Assistants - The perfect job for mums

The most common thing we all hear from mums these days (after “how do I keep the kids busy”and “how do I make these kids behave!”) is “I wish I could find a job that I could do from home”.

We have all heard the advertisements on the radio that, although may be legitimate, tend to be more about a business venture where you need to outlay money and commit a lot of time to making the type of money you would like.
I recently chatted with a mum who had that same thought, and after working as a Virtual Assistant herself, decided to start a company with another friend who had also been asking herself that same question. How can I work from home and earn real money?

Shazam

Their new site, Shazam (www.shazam.com.au) specializes in the recruitment of Virtual Assistants . They deal with businesses that don’t necessarily have the need for a full time employee or the office space to have one working in their office. They focus on either ongoing roles or project roles and make sure that the business and the candidate are suited for each others needs and the time the Virtual Assistant can dedicate.

When asked what Virtual Assistants do, Marisa pointed out that in her three years of working from home as a virtual assistant to a number of businesses her roles have included:

  • Booking and confirming meetings and appointments
  • Making travel and accomodation bookings
  • Customer service support. Predominantly by email.
  • Invoicing
  • Copywriting
  • Event Planning
  • Transcription
  • Scanning business cards to build up a database of contacts
  • Social marketing on sites like Facebook and Twitter
  • Blog writing
  • And the list goes on.

Shazam

Shazam helps businesses find virtual assistants for businesses that need a little help from someone working part time from home. They offer placements but are not limited to Personal Assistants, Administrative Roles, and Project Roles in any industry as long as the work can be done from home.

With their personal experience as a virtual assistant, Shazam has the knowledge of how to set up and organise yourself, particularly for mums juggling children at the same time. They have some great insights on what its like to become a virtual assistant here on their blog.

Some of the benefits of becoming a virtual assistant include:

  • Don’t pay for childcare whilst you work in the comfort of your own home
  • Be in the work force as you bring up your children
  • Flexible hours when you are working from home
  • Make some money!.

If you are one of these people who have heard your friends ask this type of question or know of someone who have been looking for a legitimate and dedicated recruitment service to help you find some work that you can do from home, then you can find further information at www.shazam.com.au
