iPod, iPad, iPhone... bit by bit Apple is taking over our world. Their beautiful design and amazing technology has been drawing us in more and more ever since the iPod was launched back in October 2001. As Apple products become more and more a part of our daily lives, we ask what is next? Could Apple produce an iWorld?
An iWorld seems like quite a ridiculous concept, however the more that you look into the popularity of Apple with consumers, and the breadth of Apples developments you realise that a complete Apple iWorld isn’t necessarily a total fantasy.
Firstly, have you seen the design for Apple’s new office building? Its a beautiful UFO shaped shaped glass building set in parkland. In many ways it feels like the aliens from Independence Day have landed. The giant circular building is designed to house 12,000 Apple employees, and amazingly every single piece of glass is curved. Steve Jobs claims that Apple’s new curved building will be the “best office building in the world”.
The plans for Apples giant iOffice were presented by Steve Jobs himself at the local city council meeting. Jobs spoke in a humble manner before the councilors of the city of Cupertino (the birthplace and home of Apple) as he submitted his plans for his new office building. Interestingly, one of the city councilors tried to hit up Steve Jobs for free wifi for the city in exchange for granting the permit. Steve politely declined. Check out the video of it.
The grand plans for the iOffice get the mind ticking... Why should there only be one iOffice? What if Apple built an iOffice in every city? What about apartments? Could the iOffice design be applied to create an apartment building? What would an iApartment be like? Would you buy / live in an iApartment? For many, I think the answer would be yes.
OK. So, according to Apple, it will be another 4-5 years before their iOffice is complete. It might be fair to assume that an iApartment building is just a pipe-dream at this point in time. That said, there are very serious rumours about Apple launching even more great products for us to love and enjoy in the near future. So what could we add to our iPod, iPhone, iPads, Macbook Pros, Macbook Airs, AirPorts, iClouds, and more? Here’s some of the rumours ….
Apple TV and Home TheatreThe news reels are rife with news that Apple might be preparing to launch an actual Apple TV. Embracing the full Apple experience, their TV is said to potentially include wifi, memory storage, iTunes, AirPort Extreme, and more all built in.
It’s a little known fact that Steve Jobs was the main financier and driver behind Pixar Films. Pixar are the creators of amazingly popular animated films such as Up, Toy Story, Cars, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Monsters Inc and A Bugs Life. Jobs helped Pixar bring to life their first ever feature film, and worked closely with the Pixar team right through to its sale to Disney.
With this level of experience behind them, plus their hugely popular iTunes platform as a distribution method, and (maybe) their own TV sets coming soon, Apple could be well positioned to launch its own movie studio. At bare minimum, Apple could seek to use this distribution platform to create its own Internet based TV network. Google is already said to be in negotiations to purchase the broadcast rights for the NFL.
If you let your imagination ride, the Apple innovations for an iWorld just seem to roll of the tongue. Imagine living in your ideal iWorld with your:
iRobot. Or would it be called iButler?
iCarIt would have to be an electric car, solar powered, that was absolutely connected to the Internet and the cars around it at all times. It would have a self-driving option that let you sit back and relax as you were taken to your destination of choice.
iBackpackLike a laptop that you can carry on your back, this handy bag would bring everything you need right to your fingertips.
iFlyI’m imagining a set of wings, but maybe you can think of something different?
iCookImagine a kitchen that does the cooking for you! You’d be healthy, happy and have all the time in the world to do what you want to do.
iDoctorInstead of sitting in queues for ages while you feel progressively worse at your local GP this machine could simply diagnose, evaluate and prescribe treatment there on the spot! Too easy!
iTradieCould our tradies be replaced, too? Or maybe this could be a tool for a tradie - the ultimate tool that would replace an entire kit.
I wonder if this is what a day at the Apple iOffice would be like? Simply imagining what the future could be like.
What do you think might become reality in the not-so-distant future? Join the discussion in the comments below.

I dont think we will see an iworld any time in the future. While the Apple "fanboys" trump up everything Apple they are really buying an image more than practical products. There is no doubt that Apple produces stylish hardware, however their istore and costly upgrades force their customers into a marketplace of which they have no other choice, unless of course they "jailbreak".
One thing worth considering...why has the Android operating system just outsold that of Apples. People are starting to look for alternatives that dont lock them into the very expensive Apple propaganda machine.
Anyone who says "image over practical" has never actually used an Apple product before. MagSafe adapters, ambient lighting sensors, proximity sensors, backlit keyboards... not just stylish but excessively practical and stupidly obvious. Other vendors just don't think about the entire product as a whole - they think only of small pieces - the fastest X, the biggest Y, but they don't work together the way an Apple product does.

Why do people always ask why Android has outsold Apple's iOS? Do they fail to realise Android is what is loaded on the billions of cheap Chinese ipod, iPhone, iPad knockoffs.

That is why it has such a market share now...not because it is necessarily better or people are choosing it, but because that is all they CAN have on such devices.
(p.s I have no issue with Android, I have and use both Android and iOS in numerous devices, but this is the reason why it has seen such a sharp growth...people wanting the Apple experience who can't afford it, or in some cases (sadly enough) don't realise it isn't the same thing)
