- 5.1 SCOPE ; Supply (optional) and lay bricks as required and shown to all walls and pillars inc letterbox. Clean all face brickwork and remove all waste and left over materials from site.
- 5.2 Comply with the following Standards unless otherwise specified
- AS 1640 SAA Brickwork Code
- AS 1225 Burnt Clay and Shale Building Bricks
- AS 1315 Portland Cement
- AS 1316 Masonry Cement
- AS 1465 AS1640 AS A123
- AS 3700 Metal wall ties for Brickwork
- 5.2 Mortar Materials shall be new and delivered in branded and sealed bags and stored under cover and clear of the ground. Colour to be light off white to contrast with bricks.
- 5.3 Use sound and matching bricks of uniform colour and size. Bricks to be fully fired machine made extruded clay bricks with true edges.
- Proprietary Items. BORAL Horizon; Colour Mocca
- Sizes 76 and 50mm Standard 230x110 mm bricks.
- 5.4 Generally use stretcher bond and flush joints with details as shown on drawings.
- 5.4 In temperatures over 30 deg, wet bricks thoroughly 3 hours before use if the following test reveals high absorption. With an eye dropper, apply 20 drops of water to a 25 mm dia circle on a dry face brick. If the absorption time is less than 90 seconds, the bricks require wetting.
- 5.5 Provide damp proof course (optional) and install flashings and weepholes around all openings as per premium brickwork practice.

- 5.6 Tie brickwork to Timber frame at 400 vert and 600horiz. centres with proprietary stainless steel ties, ensuring minimal mortar droppings fall on tie thereafter.

- 5.7 Supply and install all required lintels in galvanised steel as specified in Eng Drawings.
- Allow to incorporate and support all structural steel members.
- 5.9 Clean all bricks with approved cleaning agents
- 5.10 Remove from site all broken and discarded bricks, excess brick sand etc. Stack excess fulll bricks on site for proprietor use. (Optional)
