Carpenter needed to hang doors, fit skirting and architraves.

Although Ashley responded promptly to my job request, I was disappointed to find he\'d been dishonest with me. This didn\'t sit well with me, especially since I\'d experienced a few dodgy tradesmen before him, and even told him I wouldn\'t tolerate it anymore. Ashley came across quite friendly, but when he gave me his quote and I asked if it included GST, he said something along the lines of \"Of course it does. I have to put food on the table, don\'t I?\" I was prepared to pay GST on the price, but decided to check his certification via the Service Central site, just to be sure, only to find out he had no previous or current GST registration, yet had received a lot of positive feedback from other customers (hopefully, they weren\'t also charged GST). After I hired someone else to complete the work I needed done, Ashley rang me to follow up, and after I apologised for not getting back to him due to being busy, he had a go at me for being uncourteous and that it apparently costs him $50 to give quotes. In all honesty, if I hadn\'t caught him out with the GST lie, and if he didn\'t give me that attitude, I was seriously considering calling him for a house renovation in the next few months. Not anymore though.

Peter was very friendly leading up to the job I needed done - a job which involved making and installing 5 custom door jambs, hanging 5 solid core doors (some of which had to be cut to size), fitting skirting, arcs and door hardware, all to rooms that had had very poor workmanship prior. Basically, whoever got this job would\'ve had to have been amazing at their trade and had to tidy up lots of dodginess. I would\'ve gladly recommended Peter from U.E.B. - if only he\'d shown up on the 2 days he said he\'d come to work. He promised me 3 tradesmen, including himself, show up at 8am on a Thursday, but instead, only 1 carpenter showed up, unaware of how hard the job was for him, let alone 3 tradies (he was told he\'d only have to hang 5 doors and fit hardware). Peter was the second dishonest carpenter I\'ve dealt with, even saying he\'d show up the next day to hang plaster, but didn\'t even call me to say he wasn\'t going to. I had even ordered and paid for plaster board (delivered on the Friday) and a $45 bucket of top coat to be delivered, which he said he would bring over to the job since he hadn\'t organised it before the day it was due. When I rang him the following Monday, asking him to bring the top coat to me, he told me that one of his other carpenters had opened it and used some and that he\'d bring that over to me. Naturally, I said I wanted the new unopened bucket I\'d paid for, and he suggested I just buy a new one! Are you serious, Peter? Luckily, he did bring me a brand new bucket on the Monday, and I had someone else do the plaster job. I give Peter 10/10 for telling me everything I wanted to hear before he got the job, another 10/10 for sending one fantastic carpenter (Terry Raymond) to do the whole job on his own (who knows what happened to the third guy?), 0/10 for poor excuses of why he can\'t show up to do the work he was hired for, and no good recommendations to Peter for honesty or reliability. If I am allowed to pass on Terry\'s details to other Service Central users who are after quality carpentry, I\'d have no hesitation in doing so.
