Michael requested 2 quotes from Carpenters in Chelmer
There are 2 jobs that require the expertise of a carpenter with particular experience in flooring with old Queenslanders:
(1) It looks like a joist has slipped/house settled where an extension has been put on to a Queenslander causing the floor to drop about 1/2 inch in one particular place only. This has caused 1 floor board in that area to crack over about 1 foot in length. To the untrained person, it looks like a bit of ceiling needs to come out underneath that area, the joist jacked up and packed and then the cracked board replaced. That is just an uneducated guess though.
(2) The carpet has just been taken up in the house and I have found that there is an area where a patio probably used to be that has had chip board put over it, as opposed to the wide pine boards that are in the rest of the house, and then just carpeted over. I am wanting to have the chipboard removed and for that area to be redone with wide pine boards to match the rest of the floor if possible.
