I have recently signed up with iiNet and as part of that had a Telstra phone line reconnected. The line speed is very low (2Mb) compared to what iiNet have said is theoretically possible (12Mb) given the distance to the Pymble exchange. I would like someone to inspect the house wiring and setup, some things that may be affecting speed are:
- When the Telstra engineer was reconnecting the line (it had been physically cut) I noticed a central ADSL splitter, the Telstra engineer did not wire this up.
- There is a back-to-base alarm system installed in the house (hence the splitter I assume).
- The house is reasonably old and has a lot of wired phone outlets (I did try moving the ADSL2+ modem to different ports with no change in speed).
