Replace old switchboard (indoors under house), current one is in brown bakelite and has two porcelain fuses, one for powerpoints and one for lights i think. We also need to add a few powerpoints, maybe 5 of them around the house. The new switchboard should include a safety switch and be sized to cope with the added powerpoints and the future installation of an electric oven (15A fuse?).
We want to schedule the job for early March but we are trying to arrange early access so it can be done earlier. We currently need a price estimate and want to make sure someone is available to do the job once we get access to the house.

Their quote was (according to an ex sparky colleague of mine) more appropriate for a larger industrial property than for a single house like ours. Among other things it included 220m of cable where 10-15 of a thinner variety are actually needed. I can't shake the thought that maybe they copied a previous quote and forgot to change the numbers and sizing to our needs.
