under general direction, perform building & facilities maintenance tasks ranging from minimal to considerable within the primary fields of electrical, carpentry, plumbing, etc. and performs other tasks as assigned (such as examples below - not intended to be all inclusive):
1) perform general maintenance work (e.g. trims trees in parking lots, sweeps floors, hangs pictures & doors, etc.) to maintain a clean, safe environment for the school community,
2) plan and schedule preventative & corrective maintenance,
3) inspect facilities (e.g. buildings, fittings, furnishings, etc), equipment (e.g. tools, posts, playgrounds, etc.) and systems (e.g. electrical, plumbing, etc.),
4) identify and correct building and equipment problems to maintain school buildings and equipment in safe condition, prevent degradation of school property and systems, and prevent failures that would cause ‘reduction in service’,
5) repair, modify or replace inoperable or old building structures, materials, equipment and appliances,
6) communicate effectively to notify stakeholders of conditions of building and equipment and scheduled dates for repair.
7) recommend building and facility modifications to improve or alter existing school environment by inspecting & evaluating conditions and recommending appropriate changes,
8) assist school stakeholders to monitor vendors and contractors to determine that work is correctly performed and completed in a safe and timely manner and that the correct materials are utilized, etc...
