Fix automatic garage door that doesn't always close properly

We got a problem with our garage door.
9 out of 10 times on closing the door it goes up again part of the way down. only after few attempts of closing it via the remote it goes to a complete close (that too...if you are really lucky)
for this reason, one of us has to hop off the car everyday and give the door a little press to ensure proper closing.
this mostly happens during colder months and not during summer. so it's something to do with the weather change and contraction of metal.
would appreciate if someone can help us fix this ongoing issue. thanks in advance.
