quotations are sought for modification of an existing metal “tilt-a-door” – (probably installed in the 1960’s) – to make it motor driven with remote control.

the existing garage door measures 4.21m wide by 2.03m high at the lhs and 2.11m high at the rhs. the site slopes down a little. the door is a galvanised “tilt-a-door” and is shown in attached photographs. the door currently does not safely remain up and open when raised

a general purpose power outlet suitable for powering the door motor mechanism is situated in the middle of the rear wall of the garage.

we would like the work to be done in the period 21 – 28 january 2010.

if in your opinion the cost and difficulty of modifying the existing door would exceed the cost of installing a new powered door (with remote control) of similar strength and external appearance as the existing door, please quote for this latter option.

we would like the door mechanism to have a keyed manual over-ride operated from the outside, and a manual over-ride operated from the inside to provide entry or egress in case of power failure. please note that there is no other access to the garage except via the existing “tilt-a-door”. it would also be desirable to be able to manually lock the door from the outside to prevent unauthorised remote control access.


the quotation should provide for supply and installation of the equipment, and provision of two remote control devices (suitable for adding to a key ring) and two sets of keys. a warranty on the work is required.

i am currently located interstate, and the apartment is tenanted so arranging access is not easy. your quote may be made conditional on the photographs and dimensions being sufficiently representative of the actual situation, and the price can be confirmed once a site inspection has been made.
