Bonair Ducted heating repair, burning smell evident

The ducted heating was previously working with no issues. we went to use it recently, and it did not turn on. we noticed a small 'flame' symbol on the control, which seemed to indicate the pilot may be out.
we went into the roof to look at the unit and could not identify an issue. we tried turning it on and smelled an electrical burning smell, so turned it off again.
the unit is a bonaire vulcan heater product #5330052 installed on 19/5/05
we would like this repaired.
in addition, we would like to seek some advice on moving the units or ducts in order to install a skylight.
