This year a plumber inspected and advised that the heat exchanger has cracked and corroded and that this part is no longer available. As my mother has many health issues which require her to visit many medical appointments, I am seeking for an honest opinion for the most efficient way of rectifying this problem. I want to know if this part is available and if it can be replaced?

This is a five year old unit. Has been working well until last winter. It would sometimes fail to start (red LED indicating ignition timeout came on), but it would restart if I cycled the on/off... It goes through the start sequence, but the red LED called "ignition timeout / smokes stats" in the manual comes on. We had the immersed thermostat replaced last year. It made no difference.

I recently had a gas space heater removed to reveal what looks like a fire place. The wall the fire place is in backs onto the garage wall and their is a brick chimney running up this wall. But it... But it stops at the roof, where a metal flue then continues running above the foof line. The top of the internal fire place is blocked with a concrete (or similar) slab, with a hole in the centre, through which a metal flue runs up vertically. I lit some screwed up paper in the fire place and it drew really well, but I couldn't tell if any smoke came out from the flue on the roof. I need someone to please inspect the job, remove the slab and assess whether there is an internal chimney and if a brick chimney needs then to be built above the roofline, that meets regulations and will allow me to have a working fire place. I will need a quote for this as well.

The problem has happened in the past and the electrician told us to clean our return air duct. we did this and it seemed to work for about a month then stopped being compatible with the control panel.
