Older brivis ducted heating system fan seems intermittent & turns off gas

  Older brivis gas-fired ducted heating system.
pilot light remains on and fires up when thermostat (inside) turned on.
fan appears to be intermittent (suspect electrical fault) and consequently turns off gas.
fan will work intermittently, but without firing gas heaters.
when electricity is initially switched on, there is a clicking sound which disappears after 5 minutes.
suspect electrical connection or fan motor / controller issue.
has not been serviced recently.
requires a qualified electrician.
