Heater does not come on anymore when thermostat temperature is raised above room temperature. Heating system in roof. We saw that the gas pilot was off. We tried lighting it using a match (by first turning gas knob to "ON") but pilot flame does not ignite. (we turned gas knob to "OFF" for now). House stove top gas still on. A "white" button by side of heater starts up fans when pushed, but there is no heat or gas ignition. Heating system is 35-40yrs old.
