I have 6 smallish jobs calling for the expertise of a general handyman. 1. (Could easily do myself if kneeling wasn't painful) part of a small ramp rising about 30cm to a side entrance has given way. Boards are OK so problem is whatever should be supporting them underneath. 2. About 2m of bottom plinth board (weatherboard house) has rotted and needs replacing. 3. Laminate on an island kitchen bench badly scorched by a boiled-dry pot - needs replacing. It is a plain white "rectangle with the corners cut off" no holes for sink or anything. The top of the bench lifts off if that helps and new laminate may be able to be glued over old without removal. 4. A small section (<1m2) of timber floor in the bathroom has given way. As this wing of the house is only 20 years old, I'm hoping it's just a case of floorboards not having been correctly attached to the joists. Will need to cut a neat hole in the vinyl flooring and work from the top, as under-floor access is near-impossible on that side of the house. 5. If this one is outside your area of expertise, don't worry, but it involves a very long curtain-track. One whole wall of the loungeroom is windows/door, with a long stretch of heavy curtains controlled at one end only by one cord. The cord is still intact, but only works one side of the curtain, while hanging down in a big loop on the other.To someone who understands how the mechanism should work it should be very simple to fix. 6. Two fly-screen doors need replacement of their gas-filled closers; one of them also needs to be re-hinged.
