We would like to plant drought hardy plants and screen the house that sits behind us. We would like to remove nearly all the lawn but replace this with planting (trees and shrubs) as we have no shade in our backyard which gets full north aspect as well as west sun. We have 2 dogs and would need to dog proof it for a while till they get used to it. The soil is poor and we need advice on what to plant and how as well as redesign the backyard for better use and looks.
