Get rid of our reoccurring rat problem in roof, currently using rat bait

Since 2004 we have had regular visits from rats . they always enter via our bedroom wall (which is between the house and the garage) and over the last month we have had 4 rats in the roof. we are using rat bait at the moment but the rats have been dying under the house and causing a huge stink. we need to find the entry point under the house and block it. bait seems to be working but the rats keep coming back.
