1940's pedastal basin needs new drainage.

I have a 1940 pedastal Bathroom basin, recently installed, however it has the original drainage pipe which is a bit rusty, (The bit the plug covers).
I would like to get this replaced and also the plumber seemed to have put the cold shower tap on the hot tap and the other way arround. I would looove to get this fixed, It's been bugging me for ages.
