Broken cistern lid need replacing / whole cistern

I rent in a little home and the toilet was running during the night, wouldn't stop so I took off the lid and it smashed... It is a Royal Doulton Vitreous China toilet cistern and I have looked everywhere and am unable to find one. I would LOVE to just replace the lid but if not I will need to replace the whole cistern. I would just like an approximate cost of this as if it's too expensive I will have to tell the real estate! Bugger... Thanks.
