Dampness has developed into being a very wet area around our laundry and bathroom area. it appears that water is escaping from the wall and falling down the tiled area onto the floor. the carpet just outside the laundry door is now very wet. also, salt effloresence is now evident on the lounge room wall adjacent to the laundry door. this is produced by chemicals within the wall being pushed to surface and drying on contact with the air. this is indicative of a large amount of moisture being trapped within/behind the wall. both of these walls back on to the shower recess area in the bathroom. within the shower recess itself there is a trickle of water falling from the point on the wall where the shower head is fixed. i ran my finger along this water and it was gritty to the touch. there appears to be a burst pipe or leaking connection behind the shower recess which requires urgent attention.
