Remove an old gas heater from our lounge room wall.

The heater has been left in the wall after ducted heating was installed in the home, (prior to our purchasing it last year). It sticks out from the wall and we would like to remove it for cosmetic purposes. Not sure if it is still hooked up to the electrical and gas lines but the top buttons have been painted over and it has not been used in at least a decade.
