Can't get out Optical cover out on PanasonicTH-P65ST50A TV

I know this is a very small job, but I can't connect anything to my Optical port.
I can't seem to pull out the optical plug cover on the TV.
I've tried, but the plastic keeps breaking away and appears stuck..
I don't want to do any damage to the port and have got to the point where I don't want to do damage to the TV
