We have a wall in our hallway that has the paint bubbling and plaster softening, from floor to about 1M high, measuring approx 2 M wide.
We had it re-plastered about a year ago, after having rising damp in the same place since renovating 12 years ago. The wall has not been sealed, just plaster over brick in the area that was formerly the bathroom.
House is old Californian Bungalow, approx 90 years old.
