Large window roller shutter needs new motor

I have a large roller shutter over glass double doors at the back of my house. The shutter stopped working, and I had a guy come out to look at it and was told it needed a new motor (yet he could not fix it). Now the roller shutter has been taken down yet no motor has been replaced in it, and I really need it fixed before summer as the house gets very hot.
