We have an old wooden window which is still fine, but a garage was built beside this house many years ago and to accommodate light into the bedroom, the built a bizarre mini-valley beside thewindow to allow light in but collect rain water to run into down pipe. it looks ugly. also, we want to re-roof the garage, but need to take out the old window first and put in a window that is wider but shallower so we can lift the window cavity height above the garage roof, do away with the cut-out currently under the window, and re-roof right up to wall all the way along. new window will need a header installed because of the wider span.
