Section 2) There are two broken pipe sections sections on the line to the laundry upstream of the junction. The roots will grow back into these two areas, causing further blockages, and also, the pipes are in danger of collapsing, creating a permanent blockage. It is URGENT that both items below are attended to as soon as possible. Section 1) The following work is required to replace the broken junction: � Carry out electronic search to attempt to identify other underground services � Sawcut the concrete over the area of the defective junction � Excavate and remove the broken sewer pipes and supply and install a new PVC sewer pipe including a new junction on the main pipe. � Extend an inspection opening to the surface from the junction for future easy access for maintenance of the sewer line. � Bed the pipe and backfill the excavation to Australian Standard AS 3500 � Reinstate the concrete surface including reinforcing dowelled into adjoining concrete. � Clean site and remove associated rubbish Section 2) Repair of the broken pipes upstream of the junction When the sewer line is excavated and cut open to replace the broken junction, it gives easy access for the following recommended work; To save the cost of further excavation & reinstatement of the concrete basement to replace the broken pipes upstream of the junction, the most cost effective, least invasive and long term solution is to reline the section of the sewer pipe with an epoxy resin impregnated non-woven polyester liner to provide a permanent, water tight and root free repair of the damaged sewer with minimal disruption and without the need for major excavation. (Note, the junction in Item 1) above is too badly damaged and difficult to access to be relined)
